Growing Your Own Fruit and Vegetables

We grow our own fruit and vegetables for our meals for as much of the year as we can. Without a greenhouse we have to buy shop food in the winter months but in the spring, summer and autumn we often have enough to share with family and friends.

Picking home grown sweetcorn -

Cook up your sweetcorn as quickly as possible after picking it if you want to taste it at its best,
Home grown sweetcorn will taste much sweeter than shop bought.

The reasons are that as soon as the cobs are picked the sugar content starts to change.

So when it comes to picking sweetcorn the sooner you cook them the better they taste.
