Growing Your Own Fruit and Vegetables

We grow our own fruit and vegetables for our meals for as much of the year as we can. Without a greenhouse we have to buy shop food in the winter months but in the spring, summer and autumn we often have enough to share with family and friends.

Read about growing your fruit and vegetables here on my growing your own food pages.

An Important Reminder Tidying the Allotment and Garden for Autumn.

Check your bonfires before you burn any waste items.

If you are planning to burn any waste items with a bonfire remember to check that there are no hedgehogs tucked up asleep under or inside it. Gently turning over the heap will only take a few seconds and hedgehogs are a gardener's friend. It might be good to leave small areas on the perimeter of you plot a bit overgrown and untidy as these will be the places that the 'good wildlife' might need as habitat - a small patch of nettles for example can be a useful area.

There is a link ( in the side bar) to the British Hedgehog Preservation Society website.
