Growing Your Own Fruit and Vegetables
We grow our own fruit and vegetables for our meals for as much of the year as we can. Without a greenhouse we have to buy shop food in the winter months but in the spring, summer and autumn we often have enough to share with family and friends.

If you have lots of potatoes growing - unearthing a few early as a treat is not a bad idea
Although if I leave the potatoes in the ground longer then I will get a bigger crop, the first early new potatoes are a treat. So, occasionally when I am working on the vegetable plot I gently unearth just enough of the small potatoes for a meal. I leave the potato plant growing on as if you are careful when you harvest a few potatoes you can leave the rest to grow on. It is an old fashioned custom and has a quaint name.
