Growing Your Own Fruit and Vegetables

We grow our own fruit and vegetables for our meals for as much of the year as we can. Without a greenhouse we have to buy shop food in the winter months but in the spring, summer and autumn we often have enough to share with family and friends.

The Potatoes we had to remove the foliage from are not damaged

We are some what surprised that the potatoes that we removed the marked foliage from are as good as any we have had in the past.

We were half expecting the worst when we dug up the potatoes that we had been forced to remove the leaves from by the blight hitting other plots. As our potato foliage was showing signs of the same markings we removed and destroyed all the leaves and stems. The potatoes that we left in the ground for a week or two after that and have since harvested are proving to be a success at the family dinner table. Fears that the potatoes devoid of their leaves, might have suffered damage seem to have been ill founded. We have not lost any of the potatoes yet, thankfully.
