Food does not come any fresher than when you pick or harvest your own grown fruit and vegetables. Once it is in the kitchen it can be prepared and on your plate ready to eat in less then one hour.
No - using the car and petrol, no supermarket queuing at the check out and no food miles - if you walk to the vegetable garden/plot/allotment to pick your own.
Yes - your own grown salad,new potatoes, and fruit does taste better then shop bought because it spends less time in storage,travel and is there for fresher and likely to be more nutritious as well as tasty.

Growing Your Own Fruit and Vegetables
We grow our own fruit and vegetables for our meals for as much of the year as we can. Without a greenhouse we have to buy shop food in the winter months but in the spring, summer and autumn we often have enough to share with family and friends.
