Since I started to grow my own fruit and vegetables and shortly after that began to harvest the crops; I had to work out ways to use the things I harvested. One of the things I soon become aware of is that you have to find ways to use small quantities as well as gluts when everything seems to ripen at once.
This seems more difficult with things like berry fruits which need to be harvested before they over ripen and are spoiled. It was from this problem that I was encouraged to experiment with things like compote recipes.

Another useful way to use up small quantities of produce is to freeze them until you have enough put by to use in a reasonable quantity.
A tomato glut the first year led to me using them to make pasta sauces.
As I harvest and work out new recipes I will add them here in future.

Growing Your Own Fruit and Vegetables
We grow our own fruit and vegetables for our meals for as much of the year as we can. Without a greenhouse we have to buy shop food in the winter months but in the spring, summer and autumn we often have enough to share with family and friends.
