Growing Your Own Fruit and Vegetables

We grow our own fruit and vegetables for our meals for as much of the year as we can. Without a greenhouse we have to buy shop food in the winter months but in the spring, summer and autumn we often have enough to share with family and friends.

Read about growing your fruit and vegetables here on my growing your own food pages.

How to deal with kitchen waste apart from putting it in with the household rubbish...

If you only have vegetable peelings and not much in the way of  other food waste from the kitchen then composting or wormeries are good as they are suitable for dealing with the vegetable peelings etc.

However, if you have cooked food to deal with like fish, cheese, cooked rice etc. and it is being discarded regularly in with the household waste you might want to consider using the Bokashi bin system for this.

Here is are links to a couple of articles about the Bokashi system -

Bokashi. What is the Bokashi Bin System ?
